Commodities include agricultural products, precious metals, fuel, and other goods. The sale and purchase of commodities as an investment is governed by the Nebraska Commodity Code.
The Nebraska Commodity Code defines terms and provides requirements for the offer, purchase or sale of commodities, commodities contract, or commodity options. The Act also prohibits fraud and misstatements and omissions.
The National Futures Association (NFA) operates BASIC, a free tool that investors can use to research the background of derivatives industry professionals. Before working with any person or firm to trade in commodity futures, commodity pools, options, forex, or other derivatives, verify that the entity is properly registered with the NFA.
CFTC Investor Resources
The United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) provides federal regulation for commodity trading. The CFTC issues advisories and alerts which provide helpful information for investors.
